⇣ What is Whimseybox?

We are glad you asked! Whimseybox is THE destination for DIYers and crafters. We offer a $15 monthly subscription box that brings a fresh new DIY project to your door every month. Whimseybox.com contains hundreds of DIY projects for inspiration, and a blog full of DIY tips, techniques, trends and tutorials. The Whimseybox Shop is now open and in it you can find materials, tools and kits for all your crafting needs!

⇣ What about Subscriptions?

Whimseybox subscriptions are available for purchase on a monthly basis. With the monthly subscription, we automatically charge your credit card $15 each month. Also available are 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscriptions. All of our subscriptions renew automatically at the end of their term and you can cancel at any time. There is never a penalty or fee for cancellation. The $15 monthly charge includes the cost of shipping. However, Canadian orders are subject to a $5 monthly shipping surcharge.

⇣ Can I give Whimseybox as a gift?

Only if you want to be that person who gives the best gifts! Yes, Whimseybox makes a great gift. You can purchase a gift certificate for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription here. We can mail a physical gift certificate to you, to the lucky recipient OR we can deliver it instantly via email for those last-minute occasions.

⇣ Is Whimseybox Tween-friendly?

The hardest group to buy presents for is the 9-12 year olds (tweens!). These spit fires are in that terrible gray area between pigtails and cocktails. Whimseybox customer service has been fielding phone calls and emails about this group all gift season long. So, here’s our best advice for those of you wondering if Max or Abby might like a Whimseybox under the tree – YOU BETCHA!!!!

While we don’t specifically cater to is demographic we do feel that our projects are with the capabilities of this age group. However, sometimes our boxes include sharps (like needles or tools) or tiny pieces (beads or jewelry findings) or liquids (dyes, inks, paints) that would be best monitored by an adult. We encourage you to craft with your kiddos! What a fun way to get away from the BoobTube and have some great family time. Wanna give it a trial run? Our most popular kits can be purchased individually or as a party pack that includes enough supplies for four. Party packs are awesome for sleep over activities too!

⇣ Are you hiring?

⇣ I paid a few weeks ago. When will I get my first box?

Boxes ship at the END of each month. In general, if you paid on the 16th of the month or later your first box will be the following month. So, for example, your January 16th payment is for a February box. We’re always happy to answer any questions about boxes and payment so feel free to email us at customerservice@whimseybox.com.

⇣ What happens when my gift subscription ends?

Your gift subscription will NOT automatically renew. We will send you (the gift recipient) an email during the final month of your subscription reminding you to renew the subscription (on your own account) if you’d like to keep receiving Whimseyboxes without interruption!

⇣ How can I cancel my Whimseybox subscription? What is your cancellation policy?

Monthly subscribers can cancel at anytime and there’s never any silliness like cancellation fees. Simply log in to your account, navigate to "My Dashboard" then “Account” cancel your membership there before your next billing cycle. If you have suggestions or feedback as to why you are cancelling we would love to hear it. Simply email us at customerservice@whimseybox.com. Term and gift subscriptions are prepaid for 3, 6 or 12 months and are nonrefundable. However, if you’d like to direct your remaining boxes to another person or address please contact us at customerservice@whimseybox.com and we can help.


⇣ Where do you ship?

Whimseybox is currently only available in the US and Canada. (Sorry international friends!) We also ship to all APO, FPO and DPO addresses.

⇣ How much does it cost?

A Whimseybox month-to-month subscription is $15 which includes shipping! There's a $5 shipping surcharge on all subscriptions to Canada.

⇣ Can I track my shipment?

We have tracking information for all shipments to US addresses. Send us an email at customerservice@whimseybox.com and we can look up the tracking for you. We will send out an email when each monthly box ships alerting you that tracking is available. We are working on adding this tracking information to your account so soon you will be able to look it up yourself.

⇣ Returned Boxes and Address Changes

Every month (actually, almost every day) we get a handful of our monthly boxes returned to us for various reasons including boxes that were unclaimed, not deliverable as addressed or other reasons. What a bummer! We hate when we can’t get your monthly craft fix to you! Here’s how we try to prevent this situation from happening:

  • After you enter your address into your account during sign-up, our entire system is automated. This prevents any mistakes that could result from manually transferring information – and everything is handled through our secure servers so your information is safe.

  • Each month we use a service that validates all US shipping addresses through the USPS address database to make sure that your address is formatted just the way your mailman likes it. This prevents boxes from being returned for typos, incorrect formatting or other minor errors.

  • Every month after our boxes are shipped we send out tracking information. In addition, this month we’re testing a new service that will not only provide tracking information but also notify you on the day your box is out for delivery!

You can help us out by keeping your address up-to-date! You can change or update your shipping address right here. Every month we pull all of our shipping information on the 15th of the month, so that means if you’ve moved (or are in the process) of it you’ll need to enter your new address on or before the 15th of the month to ensure safe and speedy delivery of your Whimseybox.

But nonetheless, maybe you’ve moved or have a hostile doorman and you can’t find your box! Here’s what happens in that case:

  • Most importantly, you can always ask us for help! We’re glad to help investigate your missing box, just contact us on live chat, send us an email at customerservice@whimseybox.com or call us at 888.245.8744.

  • If you’ve moved, your box may be forwarded by the USPS. This can take some extra time and sometimes results in a ‘postage due’ fee on delivery. (Btw, make sure you update your address with the USPS. It’s super simple and you can even do it online!

  • If you’ve never received your box, it may have been returned to us. (This can take up to 8 weeks.) We log all returned boxes in your account, so if you’d like us to reship your box to you just contact us and we’ll arrange to send the box again, although you will be responsible for the new postage.

  • In the case that we receive 3 boxes returned in a row (bummer!) we will automatically proceed to cancel your account and notify you via email.

⇣ How do I choose what is in my box?

Well, you don’t! Instead, we select the project along with a variety of fun products to inspire you each month and we do our best to appeal to all levels of crafters. If you have any feedback regarding the ease or difficulty of the projects please let us know at customerservice@whimseybox.com. All feedback is appreciated.

⇣ How do I use this product?

Each Whimseybox contains the materials and the instructions needed to created the specific project for that month. However, we encourage our subscribers to think “outside the box” to create something truly unique. We have tons of creative ideas for you on our Community Projects page with tutorials featuring Whimseybox products and daily inspiration. Also, on the Whimseybox blog, check out articles about tips, techniques and trends.

⇣ How do I upload my own project?

1. Log into your account here.

2. Click the "Add a Project" button.


On the main project page


In the top right pull-down on every page when you are logged in

3. Add your project information including a project title, photo, and description. You can also tag your project with words such as "leather, print-making, etc.".


4. Click the "Share Your Project" button and your project will be posted to our Community!

⇣ How do I edit my projects?

1. Log into your account here.

2. Navigate to your Account Tab > Edit Projects


3. Click the "EDIT" button on the project you want to update.

4. Make your desired changes and click the "Update" button.


⇣ What are my gift options?

1. Purchase a Whimseybox gift subscription

Purchase a Whimseybox gift subscription and have a craft project sent to her mailbox. Choose from a 3 month subscription for $45, a 6 month subscription for $90 or a 12 month subscription for $165 (that’s one month free!)


Upon purchase of a Whimseybox Gift Subscription, a gift certificate with a redemption code will be sent out first, either to her email inbox or through the USPS (sent to you or sent directly to her). In order for the recipient to begin receiving her boxes, she must go to whimseybox.com/redeem and setup her account by entering the redemption code as well as her shipping information. Redeem by the 15th of the month and receive that month’s box. Redeem after the 15th and her first box will ship the next month.

2. Purchase a Whimseybox gift card

Purchase a Whimseybox gift card and give a dollar amount that is just like cash, redeemable anywhere on Whimseybox.com


By giving a Whimseybox gift card, you are giving her options! She can decide to spend her Whimseybox bucks on a subscription of her choice, choose from thousands of items in our Whimseybox shop, or both! When you purchase a gift card you’ll be able to select if you want email delivery or to have a physical gift card (pictured above) sent via USPS (delivered either to you or direct to her). To redeem a Whimseybox gift card, just enter the code into the designated box during checkout.

3. Purchase an item from the Whimseybox shop

Purchase an item from the Whimseybox Shop and hand pick a gift that you know she’ll love.


Once you’ve decided which item to purchase, you will be prompted to fill in the shipping information. If this is a gift, click on “Add Shipping Address” and enter the recipients address. Also, be sure to check off the “This order is a gift” box where you can enter a gift message.


⇣ What are my gift delivery options?


1. Email Delivery (E-Gift)

You can choose to instantly email the recipient (perfect for last minute gifts) or schedule your email to be sent on a future date. The gift certificate or gift card will appear in her inbox so she can redeem her subscription or start shopping that same day.

2. USPS Mail Delivery

Send the gift certificate or gift card to the recipient with a personal note. We will mail your gift directly to her mailbox, or send the gift certificate or gift card to yourself so you can personally deliver your gift.

⇣ When will the recipient receive their gift?

Gift Certificate & Gift Cards

We ship subscription gift certificates and gift cards via USPS First Class Mail, which usually takes between 2-3 business days to arrive to most addresses in the contential United States. If you’re unsure if your gift will arrive in time, contact us so we can help! If it’s a last minute gift, choose the email option for delivery to her inbox.

Shop Items

Orders from our shop are shipped within 3 days and usually take between 3-5 business days to arrive, depending on where in the country they are headed. Orders to Canada, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Guam as well as APO, EPO and DPO addresses may take longer.

Subscription Boxes

Once the recipient has received her gift certificate containing her gift code, she will go to whimseybox.com/redeem to claim her gift. She will be asked to create an account (if she doesn’t already have one) and provide her shipping address. Only after she redeems her gift will she begin to receive her boxes.


If the gift subscription is redeemed by the 15th of the month, she will receive her first box that same month. If it is redeemed after the 15th of the month, the first box will arrive the next month. All subscription boxes are shipped at the end of each month. Exact delivery dates vary depending on location.

⇣ Can I redeem the gift for the recipient?

Redeeming a gift subscription requires that the recipient set up an account so that we can confirm their email contact information and shipping address. For this reason, the subscription must be redeemed by the recipient upon receipt of the gift subscription code.

We know that often people like to give a Whimseybox along with the gift certificate so the recipient has something to open and can see what Whimseybox is. In that case, we recommend buying a kit from our shop which contains past month’s projects and favorite kits! And don’t forget, for the quickest turnaround, you can email your gift. As long as the gift is redeemed on or before the 15th, she will receive that month’s box.

In some cases we have had gift givers setup an account on behalf of the recipient to begin their subscription. This workaround can be used in cases where the gift recipient does not have an email address. Also please note that in these cases the email provided will begin receiving Whimseybox emails and shipment notifications immediately after signup. (We don’t want to ruin your surprise!)



Free standard shipping offer valid for orders more than $79 within the United States. No code required. Gift cards, taxes and prior purchases do not qualifytoward the minimum purchase requirement. Eligible customers must select standard shipping during checkout in order to receive free shipping. If you choose another shipping option, additional charges will apply. No adjustments on previous purchases. Offer is non-transferable and subject to change without notice. Not valid on international shipments.



Trouble logging in?

If you signed up for Whimseybox prior to June 1, 2012 you most likely paid with Paypal and cannot login here. (Soon we'll transition everyone to an account here on the new site, but we're not quite finished yet.)
