With the return of Breaking Bad just a few days away (FINALLY!) I decided to make some fun glasses to celebrate. (And perhaps to use while playing the Breaking Bad drinking game?) I've always loved the look of formulas and equations written on glass (like in labs in the movies) so I set out to recreate the look on wine glasses.
First I did some really sophisticated Googleing for 'formulas' and 'equations' and 'chemistry' because despite my years of education and experience working as an engineer, all but the most basic are kind of fuzzy. I printed out some of the images I found to use as inspiration and a reference. To write on the glass I chose Elmer's Painters markers. They write nicely on glass, but will also wash off after the party so I can use these glasses again plain, or figure out how to decorate them again when Downton Abbey returns.
If you wanted a permanent look instead, use Martha Stewart Glass Paints. They will cure to the glass permanently.
The process is pretty simple - alternating through 5 shades of blue and green I copied various chemical formulas, mathematical equations and geometric diagrams onto each glass, cramming as much semi-useful information onto them as I could. The colors I used came from different sets- Citron, Mint, Sky Blue, Ocean and Blue. The sets available to purchase are:
And here's the finished product, all ready for the first time Jesse says "b*tch!" (You have to be a Breaking Bad fan for that to make sense.)
