Recently I ran across some cute hairpins with words + sayings and thought that it would be a really fun DIY to whip up.

Supplies:

- Bobby Pins

- Alphabet Pasta

- Tweezers

- E6000 Glue

- Spray Paint

To start, arrange your letters into words. This was actually really hard! I didn't know what what to make them say so we goofed around with lots of silly ones.

Next, slip your bobby pins onto the edge of a piece of cardstock. This will make it much easier to hold. Add a small bead of glue across back side of the bobby pin. (It's flatter so the letters will be easier to apply.)

Press your letters into the glue. A pair of tweezers is really handy here to get the tiny pieces into place. Remember that game Operation? It's basically like that except for the scary buzz sound.

When the glue has dried take them outside to spray paint. As is always the case with spray paint, a few thin coats is better than one heavy coat which can glob up and run. I sprayed half of mine white and half gold.

And that's it! Since these are made of macaroni after all, make sure to handle them gently.
