This project was made using supplies from the October 2013 Whimseybox! You can buy the Whimseybox or individual supplies here.
Print template and trace on to felt with chalk or a pen. Cut out pieces and place snaps as shown.
Cut an arms length of floss and seperate out 2 threads. Thread together through needle and bring ends together. Knot at the end. (Pics here and here)
Making sure that your snaps are faced the correct way to close. Starting from the underside of the felt, poke the needle up through one of the holes of the snap..
...then down on the outside of the snap. Do this three times in each hole, then tie off on the underside of the felt. Repeat for the other half of the snap.
Line the tab pieces together with the snap facing out. Starting in between the felt pieces, feed the needle up through the top piece and sandwich the knotted end of your thread inside. (Here's a video)
Then feed the needle through both pieces to make a stitch in the same spot. Don't pull your stitch all the way tight.
Weave the needle through the loop to create a blanket stitch. Watch this video for a demonstration. Blanket stitch around three sides of the tab. At the end, knot the thread and tuck in between the pieces of felt.
Position the remaining piece of felt on top of the piece with the tab and fold in half. To create your pocket, repeat the blanket stitch, sewing through all four layers of felt starting at the bottom left (by the fold). To finish, feed your needle up through existing stitches a few times to reinforce. Tie a knot, trim off any extra thread and tuck the ends inside. Repeat on the other side. A perfect all-in-one case!
